Living Dolls

No Nudity

Review

Living Dolls isn’t the 1987 horror movie about dolls that come to life and stalk their victims--though that movie was pretty damn cool. It’s a 1989 sitcom about modeling, sort of. This show was actually a spinoff of Who's the Boss? (You know, we as Americans really need to stop and ponder what we’ve come to when Who’s the goddamn Boss is deemed spin-off worthy). It focuses on Charlie “I’m a hot chick with a dude’s name” Briscoe (Leah Remini of The King of Queens). Trish Carlin (Michael Learned) is a friend of Angela's who runs a modeling agency for teens in New York City. Charlie becomes Trish's new project, as well as a pain in her ass. As far as we’re concerned, the only good thing to come out of Who’s the Boss? was Alyssa Milano’s subsequent career tailspin into straight-to-video softcore. However, Living Dolls does star Leah, who is an undisputed hottie--even if she hasn’t bowed to the almighty nudity clause . . . yet. Living Dolls also featured an up and coming Halle Berry, who is of course now famous for showing her chocolate milk dispensers in Swordfish and Monster’s Ball (having sex with Billy Bob Jolie could conceivably be construed as balling a monster), as well as strutting her shirt stuffers in a retro bikini as Bond girl “Jinx” in Die Another Day. We’re hoping Halle will continue to show her Berries at every opportunity, since she is of course doing it “For all the Black Women.”
