Lipstick (1976)

Great Nudity!

Review

In the mid-1970s, Margaux Hemingway graced the covers of fashion magazines from Cosmopolitan to Vogue. So it was no surprise when she was cast as supermodel Christine “Chris” McCormick in the R rated flick Lipstick (1976). Obviously, the granddaughter of author Ernest Hemingway was born to play such a role since she was already deemed a supermodel in real life. Not only does the part mark her movie debut, it was also the ingénue’s nude debut! You could say the statuesque stunner puts the thrills into this thriller when she loses her top on camera. During a revealing photo shoot on the beach, she removes her bikini to flash her rack! Unfortunately, the scenes that follow are disturbing when her character is taken by depraved Gordon Stuart (Chris Sarandon) who pushes her around. He strips off her clothes, smears her with lipstick and chains her up during a long and rough assault. Granted, the skintastic act serves up Ms. Hemingway’s cupcakes, buns, and bearded clam. Yet when Gordon moves on to Christine’s little sister Kathy (played by Margaux’s real-life little sis Mariel Hemingway), she gets mad as hell and blows the pervert ... away with a shotgun! Decades after the film’s release, feminists have reaccessed Lipstick as an empowering message movie. That must be true since it certainly empowers Mr. Skin’s trouser snake! Sadly, Ms. Hemingway passed away in 1996 of a drug overdose when she was just 42 years of age. But her legacy lives on thanks to her filmed flesh!
