Like Water for Chocolate (1992)

Mixing the erotic with the gastronomic, the internationally acclaimed romantic drama Like Water for Chocolate (1992) concocts a feast for the senses from a few simple ingredients. The daughter of traditional parents, Tita (Lumi Cavazos) vows to remain unmarried to care for her infirm mother. But when she falls for the gallant Pedro (Marco Leonardi), Tita begins to realize that the dull demands of servitude are unfairly constraining. Director Alfonso Arau draws sensuous connections between sex and cooking in a film spiced with elements of magical realism. Cavazos and co-star Claudette Maillé are the real dessert here, displaying their supple bon-bons in a couple of choice scenes.
