Before the Hoff was the iconic hardbodied, hairy chested adult lifeguard saving the sexiest women with poor swimming skills he could get his hands on, and before Sam Elliott decided he would only play cowboy or cowboy adjacent roles, the mustachioed icon of machismo was rescuing ravishing women in Lifeguard (1976). Sam plays Rick Carlson, a shore-patrolling professional whose days are passed partially dressed beneath a caressing sun in sweet breezes, surrounded by buxom and physically fit females. What a life that lifeguard has! But when he gets an invitation to his fifteenth high school reunion, Rick questions his whole lifestyle. Not even being hit on by a one year from legality beach babe (Kathleen Quinlan) can keep him from thinking about if he should be like his cube monkey brethren and middle managers with mom and dad bods. He opts to go in hopes of seeing his ex, Cathy (Anne Archer), but gets embarrassed about being a middle aged lifeguard. When a buddy opts him a real job, will he bail on the beach and become a real grown up or commit to being a lifelong lifeguard?  When you see the bums on some of these beach babes, you'll understand why the beach bum lifestyle is such an appealing one to Rick and his dick. Since she wasn't legal to ride the peen at seventeen, all we get from Kathleen Quinlan is a shot of her in a pink bikini.
