Les ailes de la colombe (1981), or The Wings of the Dove, is a French adaptation of the Henry James novel of the same name, which was also turned into a film in 1997 with Helena Bonham Carter. This stars Dominique Sanda in that same role of Catherine, a woman who finds herself having to choose between a privileged life with her wealthy aunt, or a live of poverty with her journalist boyfriend. When an American heiress enters their lives and finds herself attracted to the boyfriend, Catherine discovers that she is dying and allows her to sleep with her boyfriend in hopes that she may leave them the money their relationship is lacking when she dies.  Dominique Sanda goes the whole nine yards in this role, showing off her sensational sweater puffs as well as her fantastic fanny in several scenes.
