Law of the Land

No Nudity

Review

When traveling magistrate David Roberts (Peter Lawrence) arrives in the hamlet of Merringanee, he finds that this seemingly peaceful small town has more skeletons in its closet than one would expect. First his car is stolen, and when he finally finds it he discovers the remains of one of those skeletons--a long-buried body which launches Peter on an investigation of a decades-old murder. Such is the premise of the 1993 Australian series Law of the Land, which was co-written by Sue Masters and Farscape writer Ro Hume. Aussie actress Frances O’Connor, who enchanted us as the object of Brendan Fraser’s affection in Bedazzled, guest stared on the show as a journalist. In Bedazzled, Frances took on several guises, from a professional American woman to a drug lord’s lusty Latina wife, and she looked damn good in all of them! Her co-star from that film, Elizabeth Hurley, was no slouch either as she strutted around in a tempting array of two-pieces as the devil’s sultry female incarnation.
