La noche de los girasoles (2006)

A savage attack leads to tragic repercussions in the downbeat Spanish drama La noche de los girasoles (The Night of the Sunflowers) (2007). Judith Diakhate stars as Gabi, a woman whose brutal attack at the hands of a traveling salesman (Manuel Moron) enrages her cave-explorer boyfriend Estaban (Carmelo Gomez). Blinded by his desire for vengeance, Estaban suffers a tragic accident. This is just the beginning of a downward spiral of despair and moral decay in their small provincial town; a pretty grim prospect, for sure, but hey, at least all that debauchery inspires Amalia Hornero to take off her top. What a Hornero-dog!
