Italian cult director Sergio Martino is one of the best in the business at delivering thrills, chills, and violent jolts, and the giallo thriller La Coda dello scorpione (1971) ranks among his finest offerings. Ida Galli stars as a wealthy heiress who’s suspected of her husband’s murder until she turns up dead herself. With bodies falling left and right, it’s up to an intrepid (and unbelievably scrumptious) French journalist (Anita Strindberg) to put the pieces together before the mysterious killer strikes again. Despite the looming threat of the knife-wielding psychopath, Strindberg uses two opportunities to peel off her wardrobe, catapulting Martino’s thriller into the realm of perfection.
