L' adversaire (2002)

French acting luminaries Daniel Auteuil and Emmanuelle Devos reunite for the umpteenth time in the icy thriller L’Adversaire (2002). Based on the terrifying story of real-life serial killer Jean-Claude Romand, the film stars Auteuil as a deeply disturbed man who successfully pulls the fleece over his family’s eyes for a period of two decades. When his wife, Marianne, discovers that he isn’t actually an accomplished physician, the furious con artist decides to murder her and then continues on with his parents and children. It’s a shame he can’t just come clean with his wife instead of knocking her off, but Devos manages to get in a few scantily clad scenes before Auteuil sings “So Long, Marianne.”
