Knots Landing

Knots Landing was a soap opera that, despite its ongoing popularity, is mainly worth mentioning for one thing: the array of now (or formerly) famous actors and actresses it served as a platform for. Keep your eyes open for Alec Baldwin, William Devane, Lisa Hartman, Michelle Phillips, Nicolette Sheridan, Halle Berry, Red Buttons, David James Elliott, Ava Gardner, Brian Austin Green, Bruce Greenwood, Leslie Hope, Kristy Swanson, Felicity Waterman, Ray Wise, and Michael York (to name a few). The story was sort of a Dallas spin-off since it originally centered on two members of the Ewing family, namely Gary (Ted Shackelford) and his wife Valene (Joan Van Ark), a couple recently transplanted from Dallas to California to start a life on their own. Over the course of fourteen years and no less than 344 episodes we learned all about them, their friends, enemies, and neighbors--to say nothing of the usual rivalries, intrigues, and affairs. Everything clean and decent here. Here are some other highlights of the cast members: Michelle Phillips gave a triple “b” performance in Valentino, Nicolette Sheridan showed off her lovely A-cups in Raw Nerve, Halle Berry came close to actually having sex in Monsters Ball, and Leslie Hope set out to prove that she’s not a trimmer in Paris, France. Now that’s quite a nice resumé, isn’t it?
