Jovana Lukina (1979)

A young wife becomes increasingly disillusioned with her marriage in the trippy Serbian art film Jovana Lukina (1979). Jovana (Merima Isakovic) lives with her husband in a tiny mountain town, where they work refining the rocky Montenegran terrain into a fine white powder. Why? Who knows. But what we do know is that Jovana is happy with her marriage at first, until a series of encounters with depraved travelers makes her question the entire institution. This is one of those movies that's almost impossible to describe, although the meaning of Merima's public display of dairies towards the end of the film is crystal-clear. Talk about a head trip!
