Josie and the Pussycats (2001) are Rachel Leigh Cook, Rosario Dawson, and Tara Reid, and they're about to enter the kingdom of total corporate whoredom. That's because there's a conspiracy afoot to keep the nation's teens brainwashed by tunes, and this tantalizing trio's been chosen to be the next big thing. Their hit "Pretend to Be Nice" is full of subliminal messages telling teeners to buy, buy, buy, and the kids are scrambling around scarfing up crap without knowing why. Alan Cumming and Parker Posey are behind the devious scheme—and when the Pussycats find out, it makes them want to scream. Writer-directors Harry Elfont and Deborah Kaplan take the joke even further by smothering their flick with product placements; it's a silly, candy-colored screed about corporate greed, and the leads are meowth-wateringly wankworthy.
