Today is universally recognized as Star Wars Day—inspired by the phrase “May the 4th" (Be With You”)—a takeoff on the iconic line to Luke {“May the Force…”} in 1977’s first film of the franchise.
The connection to this date originated with a full page ad taken out in the London Evening News by the Conservative Party to celebrate Margaret Thatcher’s election as Britain’s first female Prime Minister on May 4, 1979—just two years after the film came out—with the headline, “May the Fourth be with You.”
Maggie Thatcher was proud to be known as ‘The Iron Lady’ for her forceful policies…so it’s altogether fitting {albeit tightly fitting} that the iron bra slave costume worn by Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia in the 1983 movie Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi has become “one of the most iconic outfits in movie history,” in the words of EpicStream.com, “and the costume that launched a lot of fanboys into puberty.”
While only featured in two scenes, the ‘Slave Leia’ metal bikini “has since become an epic sex symbol and is often imitated and worn by fans at Star Wars Celebrations and Conventions.”
It’s so revered that it’s even made it into the realm of Fine Art (above, "The Venus de Leia") … and Fine Ink (below, an actual tattoo on a full-figured fan!
So, in honor of Star Wars Day AND the legendary outfit, let’s look at 10 of the hottest Princess Leia ladies wearing the metal bikini … and not.
Beginning, of course, with the one who started it all …
CARRIE FISHER – totally transparent top at the 1977 premiere with Mark Hamill

KIM KARDASHIAN – what list would be complete without the “one-woman franchise,” who donned the breastplates for Kanye West’s 2008 variety show pilot Alligator Boots … 6 years before they would wed
ADRIANNE CURRY – dubbed “Everyone’s favorite perpetually-dressed-as-Slave Leia ‘celebrity,’” by The Superficial, she was molested at a Star Wars convention in Orlando in 2010 by a drunk and disorderly man: “As I tried to push down my {barely there} skirt I felt an arm underneath it. Then I was grabbed and groped, hard!”
Perhaps Adrianne would have preferred being “groped” by a gal•axy … since the openly bisexual brunette has made her “feelings” for femmes known at several cosmic conventions!
So, as tanning season is right around the corner, hopefully more maidens will break out their bikinis to celebrate this long-running summer series of block•bust•er films. By now, it should be No Big ‘Wook’…
