Iron Sister (1999)

Set in the 1930s, the sumptuous period drama Iron Sister (1999) stars Taiwanese goddess Qi Shu of The Transporter (2002) as a peasant woman who offers shelter to an enigmatic Japanese army deserter. The woman’s act of generosity has disastrous consequences when the soldier surreptitiously murders her fiancé and sends her into an unloving marriage. While the tone of Iron Sister is somber, Qi Shu--a former centerfold model for Penthouse in Hong Kong--adds a welcome dose of sensuality as she strips down to splash in a river with her lover. Yeung Yee Ting is similarly tantalizing in her topless appearance as the soldier’s amorous girlfriend.
