Inland Empire (2006)

We’re thrilled to see Laura Dern land the leading role in the thriller Inland Empire (2006). Of course, thrills turn to chills in this film within a film when life begins to imitate art for actress Nikki Grace (Dern). While shooting a remake of a movie, Nikki begins to fall for her co-star Devon Berk (Justin Theroux). You could say she takes method acting a step too far since she starts to lose her identity by becoming her character Sue Blue. To make matters worse, her director Kingsley Stewart (Jeremy Irons) warns his cast that the stars of the original movie were murdered during the filming. And you can bet things will continue to get stranger since this flick is written, directed and co-produced by none other than sureal auteur David Lynch. Shot entirely on digital video with a handheld camcorder, the R rated mystery took Lynch two and a half years to make. Like his previous Hollywood movie Mulholland Drive (2001), this story is a real mind-bender. As such, get ready to see Polish carnies, hypnotists, hoofers who hook, bunny-suited men, and an all-star cast that includes Diane Ladd, Jordan Ladd, Julia Ormond, Karolina Gruszka, Laura Harring, Mary Steenburgen, Naomi Watts, and Nastassja Kinski. Even though all of these talented women are sexy on screen and well-known across the globe, Mr. Skin prefers the pic’s titillating portrayal by Wendy Rhodes. As Salli, the busty brunette shows off her acting chops as well as her huge, nude boobs. Cut, that’s a print!
