Get ready for sex, violence, and Roman togas in I, Claudius (1976). Adaptated from the historic novels “I, Claudius” (1934) and “Claudius the God” (1934) by Robert Graves, this BBC miniseries offers maxi T&A! Not only did the popular program win over fans, it received an Emmy and three BAFTAs. Set from 24 BC to 54 AD, the saga follows the unlikely Emperor Claudius (Derek Jacobi) who is presumed to be a fool due to his stutter. This affliction proves to be a survival skill since the brilliant man is seen as no threat. While Claudius plays dumb amid his plotting peers, he witnesses the ruthless machinations of his mother Livia (Sian Phillips) who pulls the strings to rule the rulers. Indeed, in this pre-women’s liberation era, the fairer sex must rely on their cunning heads and fantastic bods to establish their power. As such, we get to see a few seductresses using their wiles to get their way. Check out Episode 6 which showcases the perky peaks on Livilla (Patricia Quinn) as she lounges in bed with Praetorian Prefect Sejanus (Patrick Stewart). Nice Arch of TITus! Plus, Episode 11 features the puffy-tipped pyramids on Claudius’s wife Messalina (Sheila White) as she rolls around with her secret lover. In between, the rack and rump on Drusilla (Beth Morris) can be seen. In Episode 8, this naked lady learns you can’t manipulate Caligula (John Hurt) who has her strung up sans clothing. Needless to say, these scenes make Mr. Skin agrippa his column!
