With A Resume Like Hers, Helen Mirren Can't Not Be A Sex Symbol
Here’s the thing, Helen Mirren, you don’t have to think you are a sex symbol anymore. In fact, saying that you are happy to grow old and not care about your looks just makes you that much sexier. Helen Mirren, no matter how you slice it, you are and always will be one of the hottest sex symbols on the planet.
While I could sit here and go on and on and on about Helen Mirren’s incredible, nudity filled career, I think I’ll leave that up to the pictures. Though Mirren recently spoke with The Telegraph about getting older, her past loves, and no longer being a sex symbol. Here are a few of the highlights. On staying beautiful:
'I have absolutely no beauty regime,’ she says in that perfectly modulated, husky voice. ‘I sunbathe – I know I shouldn’t butI love sitting in the sun. I drink wine and occasionally I’ll drink to excess. I eat French fries. I’ve never managed to go to the gym for longer than two months. I always forget to take my vitamins.I’ve done everything but I haven’tdone too much of anything – I’ve neverhad a Coca-Cola, ever. Sometimes I use hotel body lotion as conditioner for myhair. I’m not particular. Life is too shortand too precious.’
On relationships:
‘And I have had a series of very, verygood men in my life. My husband, obviously, is the uber good man, butall the men I had relationships withbrought something positive to my life.’
And on being a sex symbol:
‘For me, one of the best things about getting older is finally being relieved of the whole sex-symbol tag,’ she says. ‘Thereis good and bad in ageing. Each ageyou become reveals a new person you’ve become. I loved being young but I’ve enjoyed every stage in different ways.'
I don’t know how else to put it, but simply because Helen Mirren is no longer doing nudity and aging the way she wants doesn’t make her any less of a sex symbol. In fact, you could make a pretty good argument that she’s even more a sex symbol now because she is doing what she wants. Confidence is the sexiest of all the qualities. Well, that and her incredible boobs.
