Harper Valley P.T.A.

In perhaps the most ass-backwards way possible, this short-lived (and oh so very dumb) sitcom was inspired by a movie that was inspired by a song. How anyone managed to plumb 36 sitcom episodes and one 90-minute feature out of such a vapid little ditty is beyond comprehension, but both of the visual adaptations feature a young and curvaceous Barbara Eden jiggling all over the place. The southern-fried sitcom dropped the “P.T.A.” from its title after its inaugural season, and that must have been the alteration which perhaps ultimately doomed the production, as the show didn’t survive season two.
