Gone Baby Gone (2007)

Based on the Dennis Lehane novel of the same name, Ben Affleck's directorial debut, Gone Baby Gone (2007), stars baby bro Casey Affleck as private dick Patrick Kenzie, a working-class Bostonian with convenient connections to the criminal underworld. It's because of these contacts that Amy Madigan, the aunt of a kidnapped girl, approaches Casey and his partner (both in practice and in bed), Michelle Monaghan—she needs help getting information from the neighborhood types who won't talk to the fuzz. Now on the case, the two team up with none-too-pleased coppers Morgan Freeman and Ed Harris to look into the disappearance. It's not long before they uncover a whopping web of corruption, starting with the girl's parents ripping off a local drug lord to the tune of 130 thou. Yow! A hit with the critics, Gone Baby Gone made a number of 2007 top-ten lists.
