Although the Gidget canon contains three feature films, three TV movies, and a mid-'80s network remake, it’s the 1965 Sally Field series that seems to offer the most nostalgia appeal. Chalk it up to Sally’s playfully perky persona (and her habit of talking directly to the audience, horny males included), but this thirty-two-episode adventure of a free-spirited surfer girl is still remembered quite fondly. Aside from Sally’s boss butt and keen cans, the series also delivered the bountiful Betty Conner as Gidget’s older (sexier) sis and a handful of terrific li'l teenies a-boppin’ around the beachfronts.
