Hal Hartley's Fay Grim (2006) picks up seven years after his Henry Fool (1997) left off, with the focus this time on Parker Posey. She's Fay Grim, the ex-wife of writer/self-proclaimed genius Henry Fool (Thomas Jay Ryan), who is missing, presumed dead, and wanted for mysterious international intrigues involving everyone from Iraq to the Vatican. When Parker's son gets in hot water at school for showing off a bit of hand-cranked pornography, questions start popping up. Where did he get that wacky camera? Did it come from Parker's brother, James Ureaniak, the Nobel Laureate poet-in-the-poky who crossed the law by helping Henry flee the country? Maybe Henry himself sent it to his son? Soon CIA agents Jeff Goldblum and Leo Fitzpatrick are sniffing around, trying to find a connection to Henry, whose notebooks are full of state secrets . . . and Parker is off on the world's quirkiest international adventure.
