They really were stressed about divorce in the 70’s, weren’t they? This short-lived series followed a woman (Lee Grant) who, after 25 years of marriage to attorney Jack (Joe Silver), starts her life over again after a divorce, moves into a new apartment, gets a new job, and tries to figure out how to deal with dating. Grant was nominated for an Emmy after the series was canceled and gave NBC executives a public spray on Johnny Carson’s Tonight Showfor dumping the series so quickly. While many actresses would have worried about getting themselves blacklisted, Grant had no such issues to deal with, being as she’d already been blacklisted for almost a decade by the McCarthy Anti-Communist witch-hunts for refusing to testify against her husband. Nice way to treat an Oscar-winner.
