Face/Off (1997)

John Woo's wacky Face/Off (1997) stars John Travolta and Nicolas Cage as an FBI agent and a criminal thug who face off by swapping mugs. John is obsessed with Nic, a criminal mastermind who offed John's son a few years back. Everything in John's life revolves around Nic, and it's starting to make wife Joan Allen sick. Tides turn when Nic gets wounded in a shootout and looks to be out of commission. But things aren't so smooth in Woo world, and it turns out that there's a time bomb ticking thanks to Nic—if it goes off it could destroy L.A. for good! Nic won't fess up, and the only other person with a clue to the bomb's location is his tight-lipped bro Alessandro Nivola. Whatever can the FBI do? How about grafting Nic's kisser onto John's? Why, that's a great idea! Now he can go to the evasive bro and pretend to be in the know. Unfortunately Nic comes to and makes the FBI to do it to his face too, and now the new, improved, Travoltized Nic is back in action and after John . . . and his sexy young spawn Dominique Swain!
