Lightweight sitcom that earned some praise for dealing with ‘lesbian issues’, and then got canceled once the star started ramming her damn ‘lesbian issues’ into the viewers’ every orifice. I doubt that sitcoms are precisely the right spot for socio-political grandstanding, but then again I’ve never found Ellen DeGeneres all that funny in the first place. Being gay does not, in and of itself, make someone funny or interesting. As is often the case in vehicle sitcoms, the supporting cast got the most laughs – most notably Joely Fisher and Jeremy Piven.
