El cantante (2006)

Marc Anthony stars as Salsa superstar Héctor Lavoe, a warbler so great he was known simply as El Cantante (2006): the singer. Marc's real-life red-hot wife, Jennifer Lopez, plays Lavoe's real-life red-hot wife, Nilda "Puchi" Roman, who tells the tale of Marc's success-and-self-destruction arc with aplomb (and a big ol' bum). Beginning as a teen sensation in the island nation of Puerto Rico, Marc is clearly fated to be famous (and maybe even un poco rico). Success hits him quickly once he gets to New York City, but his decline begins just as fast. Drawn to drink and drugs as much as he is to loyal ladies with great junk and jugs, Marc destroys himself in the classic tragic fashion.
