Orson Welles became a legend in the motion picture industry when he co-wrote, directed, produced and starred in the cinematic classic Citizen Kane (1941). Four decades later, Paul Bartel attempted a similar goal with the R rated flick Eating Raoul (1982). Of course, the black comedy Bartel wrote, directed and starred in never reached the heights of the aforementioned masterpiece yet the movie does claim a cult status. Tall and twisted Mary Woronov plays Mary Bland to Paul’s Paul Bland. Together, the partners in crime work as a pimp and ho in their spare time. As Mary gets her customers off, her hubby knocks them off. Once these clients with stiffies become total stiffs, they’re rolled for their money and turned into food for canines. In this dog-eat-John world, Raoul (Robert Beltran) transports the corpses to the dog food plant. But when our happy couple doesn’t need him anymore, they do what comes naturally — they chow down! Forget about those other prostitution, murder, and cannibalism comedies you’ve previously seen, and rent this one instead. If that’s not enough of an endorsement, the film features Mary’s naked body! Indeed, Ms. Woronov reveals her wobblies when she struggles with Ed Begly Jr. on the couch 46 minutes into the movie. Almost 10 minutes later, the skintastic actress flashes her ass and a bit of her breast while getting dressed. No wonder Eating Raoul spawned a same-named musical on off-Broadway in 1992. Since then, Mary could be seen sans top in Mr. Skin’s dreams!
