Dreamers (1999)

Hollywood is a magnet to impressionable kids with high aspirations. Tinseltown’s pull extends across the nation, drawing the country’s most ambitious young Dreamers (1999) from the safety of their rural hamlets and rust-belt burgs with visions of star-crossed fantasy lives. Too often the would-be millionaires face a hard landing on the mean streets of reality. Director Ann Lu offers a sweet-and-sour case history of two boys from Tennessee, heading west with hearts full of filmmaker desire. The lads butt heads with the hard side of the easy life, but it will take more than a few hard knocks to send them scurrying back home.
