Dimple Kapadia was born into an acting/movie industry family and started her career off at the age of 13 in the title role of the 1973 picture Bobby which ended up being a huge commercial success and made a star out of young Dimple. At the age of 15, she married actor Rajesh Khanna and, at his insistence, stopped acting. She would divorce him several years later and return to acting full time, quickly landing several parts and regaining the notoriety she had lost during her marriage. Over the next 20 years, Dimple would star in numerous movies that were critical and commercial successes, becoming very famous in India as a result. It was then she began branching out and looked for more character-driven and interesting parts including working in Hollywood in movies like Tenet (2020). Unfortunately, for Americans, anyways, that career has taken place almost completely within the confines of Hindi-language Indian cinema, so she remains a relative unknown here in The States. Nevertheless, she has enjoyed her stardom in her native land, appearing in more films than one could stand to count since her debut, including the 1985 film Saagar, which, in spite of the traditional Indian taboo of on-screen nudity features a very brief look at Dimple’s pimples as her shawl springs from her heaving bosom. It may be brief, but it’s definitely worth a look…Entering its fifth decade, Dimple’s career is as busy as it has ever been. That said, it’s very unlikely we will get to see her fully nude, but you never know, one day goddess Lakshmi may smile upon us.
