Degrassi Junior High (1987-1990)

Ridiculous weekly after-school special masquerading as a bona-fide piece of drama, Degrassi Junior High would package up the most important topic of the week and present it in thoroughly hamhanded fashion. Delivered with the subtlety of a sugar-coated sledgehammer, the series went through a litany of Hot Button items, including (but in no way limited to) teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, death of a parent, drinking, driving, ‘doing it’, etc., etc., etc. All delivered in a stunningly color-by-numbers style that makes one think the scripts were created by computer.
