Crime and Punishment in Suburbia (2000)

Crime and Punishment in Suburbia (2000) is a contemporary fable starring Monica Keena as Roseanne, a popular high school student dating Jimmy (James DeBello), the cute captain of the football team. On the outside, life seems perfect for the attractive nymphet but Roseanne’s family life is a dysfunctional combination of a cheating mother (Ellen Barkin) and an alcoholic stepfather (Michael Ironside). During an alcohol-fueled spell, the drunken dad gives Roseanne an impromptu lesson on the birds and bees. Determined to exact revenge for her stepfather’s indiscretion, the dishonored daughter, along with her naive boyfriend, plot to murder the devilish dad. When the deed is done, Roseanne finds herself incarcerated and on trial for the crime. While all her so-called friends abandon her, an obsessive classmate (Vincent Kartheiser) comes to her defense, consoling and leading her towards salvation.
