One of the most distinctive characteristics of life in these United States is the multi-mix provided by a plethora of ethnic populations within our greater whole. Or perhaps our national profile is more precisely defined by the peculiar lack of mixing among the racial strains that are woven separate but side-by-side throughout the American fabric. It seems that whenever U.S. citizens of diverse origins intersect, there is the potential for a Crash (2004), not to be confused with the David Cronenberg thriller Crash (1996) starring Holly Hunter, Alice Poon, Deborah Kara Unger, and Rosanna Arquette. In this Paul Haggis flick, Middle Eastern and Asian immigrants, indigenous Hispanics, descendants of African American slaves, and European-bred pale faces all collide and combust upon the streets of L.A. with shock waves reaching into the shops, houses, and onto the Red Carpet. Yes, the critical bait content worked like a charm — bringing in nine BAFTA and six Academy Award nominations, including a Best Picture win. The all-star ensemble (featuring Sandra Bullock, Matt Dillon, Brendan Fraser, Terrence Howard, Ludacris, Thandiwe Newton, and Ryan Phillippe) also took home the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. Of course, we were won over by Jennifer Esposito’s performance. Thanks to her revealing role, we get to see the skintastic actress’s left boobage and side butt when her character gets pegged in the sack by Don Cheadle. For that alone, the former Mrs. Bradley Cooper earns a statuette in Mr. Skin’s tuxedo pants!
