Review

The early aughts were a real wilderness period for movies that combined typical teen movie tropes with high tech special effects wizardry. There are few examples more prominent than Nickelodeon's attempt to launch a new franchise with Clockstoppers (2002), directed by Riker himself, Jonathan Frakes. Bearing the tagline "Freeze the Future," the film centers around rambunctious teen Zak (Jesse Bradford), who comes into possession of a watch that allows him to control the speed of everything around him as it speeds up his molecules to the point where everyone and everything but him are frozen in time. The technology was invented by kind hearted scientist Earl Dopler (French Stewart), but was co-opted by evil tech CEO Henry Gates (Michael Biehn) for his own nefarious purposes. Zak gets the watch due to a catastrophic mix-up involving his professor father, and now with the help of his friends Francesca (Paula Garcés) and Meeker (Garikayi Mutambirwa), Zak has got to ensure that the technology doesn't once again fall into the wrong hands. We're not entirely sure why you may have thought that a PG film aimed at teens and released in the summer by Nickelodeon would be a great source for nudity, but we're going to have to break your heart and tell you that there's no nudity in this flick. There is a sexy scene where 27 year old Paula Garcés—playing a character ten years younger—flashes her bra while pulling on a shirt, so maybe that's what you're after. If so, thanks to Mr. Skin, you too can slow down and even stop time on that exact moment for as long as you like!
