Review

An unassuming vacuum-cleaner salesman has a life-changing encounter with a woman at a snowy railroad station in Charles Biname’s French-Canadian drama Chili’s Blues (1994). Fate brings Pierre-Paul (Roy Dupuis) into contact with Chili (Lucie Laurier), a distraught schoolgirl contemplating suicide in the bathroom. While the snow piles outside, the salesman convinces the young woman to put down her handgun and reevaluate her decision. It’s an encounter so charged that the two soon fumble their way into a tryst on the train, with Laurier offering a quick peek at her voluptuous bod.
