Biography

Born in Hertfordshire, England, British thespian Cheryl Campbell is known for a lot of parts in big productions. She was Jennie Liddell in the Oscar-winning Chariots of Fire (1981), Lady Alice Clayton in the Oscar-nominated Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes (1984), and Sister Monica in Hawk The Slayer (1980), which was not Oscar anything, but did star Jack Palance. (Come on, it’s Jack Palance!) She also played Eileen, the female lead opposite Bob Hoskins in the mini-series Pennies from Heaven; a BBC production, it was also released in the states in 1979, and gave Cheryl a BAFTA Award nomination for Best Actress. The talented and busy actress is also a huge stage star, and has performed in more plays than Mr. Skin can count, even winning the prestigious Laurence Olivier Theatre Award in 1983 for Best Actress in a Revival for her role as Nora in Henrik Ibsen’s The Dollhouse, earning her the nickname The Ibsen Girl. As Lady Aline Hartlip in The Shooting Party (1984), she indulged in a little bedroom fun, and revealed her terrific twosome between tangles of long, curly hair. On UK television, she’s torn up the screen as Vera Brittain in the mini-series Testament of Youth (1979), was the Storyteller in the series Jackanory in 1981, played Griselda Clement in the TV movie Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple: The Murder at the Vicarage (1986), starred as Elizabeth Fellowes in the series A Sort of Innocence in 1987, as Maria Wearing in the mini-series Centrepoint(1990), joined the mini-series The Secret Agent (1992) as Winnie Verloc, portrayed Madeleine Claveau in the mini-series Monsignor Renard (2000), Lady Carbury in the mini-series The Way We Live Now (2001), had a star turn as Molly Gilcrest in the series William and Mary from 2003-2005, was in the Funland (2005) mini-series as Valeri Hinchcliffe, Miriam Turner in the series Casualty in 2011, Mrs. Truscott in the mini-series Breathless (2013), and Helen Foster in the series Doctor Foster: A Woman Scorned in 2015. Wow—it’s all Mr. Skin has.
