After realizing that Cher would probably seem more appealing without that goofy Sonny Bono hanging around, TV producers quickly moved to offer the statuesque songstress her own variety show. Ironically enough, the show was not nearly as successful as Sonny and Cher and was gone before two full seasons were through. Capable comedy troopers like Carol Burnett and Teri Garr would stop by and contribute some skit work but the onus here was clearly on Cher’s tunes. Either way, it’s yet another semi-forgotten variety show curiosity these days.
