Charlie Bubbles

Charlie Bubbles (1967)

No Nudity

Review

Albert Finney directs and stars as Charlie Bubbles (1967), a rich scribbler who's sick of his privileged existence. The natty novelist has it all—people at his beck and call, the ability to do whatever he pleases, and lovely young ladies falling to their knees. But it still isn't enough to this Mr. Bigstuff, and he chases away the sensation of alienation by drinking and goofing with his buddy Colin Blakely. Oh, and he also does the nasty with his sex-a-tary, Liza Minnelli! That ought to chase the cobwebs out of your soul, Albert! Don't even think of complaining ever again! Charlie Bubbles marks Liza's screen debut, but, alas, she didn't use the opportunity to get nude—that came three years later when she mooned the universe in Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon (1970).
