Iconic Eisenhower-era blonde bombshell Jayne Mansfield finally exploded nude on all over the big screen in the comedy Promises! Promises!, which debuted on this date in 1963.

Thus was born the first instance of Hollywood using celebrity nudity to sell a movie.

And from there, the remainder of Skinstory has followed.

Jayne Mansfield had long been the D-cupped B-movie version of ultimate Tinseltown sex siren, Marilyn Monroe.

Never one to settle for second-place status, however, the mam-nificent Ms. Mansfield always aimed to outdo her more famous rival with outrageous publicity stunts, wild grabs at fame and, ultimately, baring her succulent bosom and backside in the first movie released nationally that promoted its star appearing nude -- Promises! Promises!

Jayne famously married Eastern European muscleman Mickey Hargitay, flirted with membership in the Church of Satan and then, tragically, was decapitated in a car accident on June 28, 1967.

Fortunately, we'll always have Jayne's cinematic legacy by which to lovingly remember her, along with the fantastically sexy fruit of her loins, Mariska Hargitay.
