Review

Casino Royale (1967) is a James Bond spoof with David Niven as the sex-crazed secret agent. He’s pulled from retirement when an assassin starts killing off Britain’s spies. To confuse the assassin he names several other agents James Bond, but most confusing is Woody Allen, who plays Bond’s vertically challenged nephew who plans to kill off all men over the height of 4’6”. Well, that’s the kind of movie you get from five directors, most uncredited, and a team of screenwriters. Still, the kitsch value is high enough that Quentin Tarantino once expressed interest in remaking this groovy gas of a picture—which was, of course, spectacularly "reimagined" in the acclaimed 2006 version starring Daniel Craig and Eva Green. Mr Skin would still be curious to find out who Tarantino mighty have cast in the original's Ursula Andress role. Ursula adds a Swinging Sixties sex appeal and even a surprise nip slip to the proceedings, which makes this casino hit the jack-off pot.
