Britney Spears Most Searched Star of the 2000s

The past decade has brought about some incredible changes in pop culture. Ten years ago MrSkin.com was in its infancy, nudity on television was a rarity, celebrity sex tapes were few and far between, and things like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube weren't around to help you waste away hours and hours of each day. But one thing has remained constant throughout the past ten years: Whether you wanted to see her flesh-toned get-up at the 2000 VMAs, her stage makeout with Madonna, or her string of baldbeaverflashes, you were searching for Britney Spears on the Internet.

San Francisco Chronicle reports:

Britney Spears has been crowned the most searched for celebrity on the internet in the last decade, after a turbulent 10 years in the spotlight.

The "Toxic" hitmaker shot to fame in 1998 with her debut track "Baby One More Time," and during her time in the limelight she has been married twice, given birth to two children and suffered a very public meltdown, which saw her hospitalized on an involuntary psychiatric hold in 2008.

And her drama-filled personal life has resulted in her being named the most popular celeb on the web, according to search engine Ask Jeeves.

It's a shame that this study didn't go into more detail, because we're guessing that at least 90% of those searches were actually for "Britney Spears nude."
