Break Up (1998)

Abusive husbands should be aware that the more punishment a wife soaks up, the more spectacular and painful the payback when she finally has had too much. Wiry and wry Bridget Fonda simmers in Break Up (1998) as the spouse who’s had it all from her man--the busted ear drums and busted bank accounts. She can hardly summon up a shrug when the lug is found croaked floating downriver inside a crashed car. The cops naturally name Bridget suspect number one, which doesn’t help her dead husband none, and she frantically scurries through the remainder of the picture deafly attempting to clear her name, avoid the wrath of the real killer, and recover the cash that the dead bastard stole from her before he was offed.
