As We Count Down to the 81st Annual Academy Awards on February 22nd, Mr Skin Pays Tribute to the Twenty Actresses Who Took Home Oscar Gold for Films in Which They Flashed Flesh

The mesmerizing Faye Dunaway had already earned two Oscar nods by 1977 (for Bonnie and Clyde and Chinatown, both nude performances) but had yet to take home the statuette. So Faye said, "I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!" and turned in the best performance of her career in Network and finally nabbed the little gold man. It probably helped that Network also provided one of the best nude scenes of Faye's career. It may have been brief, but seeing Faye's funbags flop away as she undressed for William Holden probably swayed the minds (and manhoods) of more than a few Academy voters.

Philadelphia native Arthur Penn, who electrified cinema in 1967 as few filmmakers ever have by directing Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty in Bonnie and Clyde, was born on this date in 1922.

With its unprecedented violence and romantic anti-heroes, Bonnie and Clyde revolutionized what was possible in Hollywood -- and not the least of that was sex and nudity.

For Arthur Penn, that prospect climaxed with Night Moves, wherein teenage Melanie Griffith bares lip-smacking labia-and-anus-intensive back-burger during a skinny dip.
