As summer drew to a close, temperatures soared past the boiling point on the big screen as Body Heat opened in theaters on this date in 1981.
The Florida-set modern film noir cast William Hurt as a lawyer-by-day/ladies'-man-by-night who falls hard for femme fatale Kathleen Turner, who gives a scorching performance that made her a skinstant sex symbol.
Kathleen is so incendiary in Body Heat that Hurt famously smashes a glass door to get at her bare body, and then oafishly falls into a plot to murder Turner’s husband.
