Blanche

Blanche Bordeleau (Pascale Bussieres) lives in a time and place (early 1930’s French Canada) where she’s not allowed to be a doctor but that’s not about to stop her. She studies nursing in Montreal, then heads off to the remote Abitibi region in northern Quebec where the shortage of doctors will allow her the freedom to treat patients. Cue chauvinistic pioneers, the odd robber baron industrialist and lots of Dr Quinn Medicine Woman issues. Bussieres, who has made her living by showing her intimates on anything she can get work on in the decade since this show, pretty much showed nothing here in this ‘woman power’ role but she’s still worth watching, even if only to imagine...
