“I love the black and white. Two races of flavor living side by side,” observed Jerry Seinfeld while eating a black and white cookie during the fifth season of his hit sitcom Seinfeld (1989-1998). Mr. Skin couldn’t have said it any better when recalling the exploitation flick Black Mama, White Mama (1972). Prison makes for appealing bedfellows, especially a jail for sexy stacked females that is situated in a humid climate that necessitates skimpy clothing for the eye-catching inmates. Of course, the women won’t warm up to one another immediately. But when an African American goddess and a blonde babe escape the cruel confinement of their jungle encampment while shackled to one another, cultural barriers eventually come down. The girls pool their efforts to save their own skins and further the cause of banana republic revolutionaries in this action-packed flick full of ravishing racks and arch villains. Ebony icon Pam Grier plays Lee Daniels — not to be confused with the same-named producer of Monster’s Ball (2001) and director of The United States vs. Billie Holiday (2021). No, we wouldn’t want to see him flaunting his naked sweaty chest like Pam does after spending time in a hot box. The same can be said of pale beauty Karen Brent (Margaret Markov). If that’s not arousing enough, the ladies also flash their panties. Inspired by The Defiant Ones (1958) starring Sidney Poitier and Tony Curtis, this B movie includes Lotis M. Key, Wendy Green, and Alona Alegre’s chocolate chips. Look to the cookie!
