Eddie Murphy is back for more criminally hilarious hijinks in the action-comedy sequel Beverly Hills Cop 2 (1987). When Beverly Hills police captain Andrew Bogomil (Ronny Cox) is shot by a mysterious tall woman (played by Brigitte Nielsen) just as a series of "alphabet robberies" is shaking up the tony suburb, Detective Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and Sergeant John Taggart (John Ashton) have no choice but to call on fast-talking Detroit detective Axel Foley (Murphy) for help. Speaking of shaking things up, fast-forward to the 47-minute mark to see Teal Roberts and Peggy McIntaggart shakin' what their mamas gave them on the strip club stage. You have the right to remain hard! The film itself is an ultra slick, ultra cool throwback to a bygone era of cinema. It's also fun because it's THE movie that turned Uddie Murphy into a true bankable superstar. It's an unconventional detective story that has Murphy, a Detroit police officer, go to Beverly Hills after his close friend is killed. During his investigation, he discovers an illegal drug market around an art museum. This is essentially a fish out of water film with a pure 80s soundtrack, plenty of violence, and even more laughs. It also benefits from some truly menacing baddies. Sure, it doesn't have as much nudity as you'd hope to see, but the effortlessly great acting, sharp writing, and sleek direction will be more than enough to keep even the thirstiest flesh fiend entertained from start to finish. One of the best cop movies ever!
