A teen series from Sweden that lasted, oh, 12 weeks, Bert deals with Bert Ljung (Martin Andersson), a fictional character from a series of ten books that Swedes have been reading for some time. Bert’s a normal teenager who's always in the usual garbage at home and at school, he fights, tries to score with the chicks, hoons about on his moped, hangs out with his weirdo pals Ake (Oliver Loften) and Erik (David Boati), you know - the usual teen scene. Picture it as My So-Called (Swedish) Life. The series was so popular that it spawned a feature film a year later called Bert - den siste oskulden (or Bert - The Last Virgin). Viewers will want to track down 1985’s My Life As A Dog for a nice lingering look at co-star Ing-Marie Carlsson’s redheaded bikini burger. Suddenly I’m hungry…
