Beautiful (2000)

Sally Field tries her hand behind the camera in the uplifting chick flick Beautiful (2000), a star-studded drama about one woman’s pursuit of victory in the fabled Miss America pageant. Minnie Driver stars as Mona Hibbard, a leggy Illinois-bred brunette who’s set her sights on capturing the sparkly tiara. Standing steadfastly by her side is her lifelong best friend Ruby (Joey Lauren Adams), a curvy looker who lacks the bitchiness necessary to compete in the catty pageant. Field’s film chronicles the ups and downs of the women’s friendship without revealing much skin in the process. Driver and Adams remain frustratingly clothed throughout, while co-contestants Kathleen Robertson and Bridgette Wilson reveal a smidge of cleavage.
