Beast

What if you were a vet but you really didn’t like animals very much? What if, in fact, you actually despise animals with a passion? That’s the problem that troubles country vet, Nick (Alexander Armstrong) who only persists with his chosen profession because the animals bring him into constant contact with their female owners. Nick then puts the smooth moves on the women in his trade, only to be shot down like an in-season duck. His receptionist, the enigmatic but gorgeous Doon Mackichan, plays well off Armstrong, adding some biting comedy to an already hilarious mix. The show only played for two six episode seasons in the UK but then that’s standard fare in the UK – every successful series there finishes up before the material runs out (Fawlty Towers anyone?) and the two seasons of Beast are consistently worth watching.
