The blood-soaked biopic Bathory (2008) seeks to rehabilitate the image of 16th century Countess Erzsébet Báthory (Anna Friel), portraying her as a proto-feminist Renaissance woman who fell victim to the greed of men rather than a sadistic lesbian vampire who killed hundreds of virgins and bathed in their blood. There's still plenty of blood and naked virgins though, along with the boobs and butt of Ms. Friel herself.
