Barefoot in the Park

Three years after the Gene Saks movie of the same name came this further adaptation of the adaptation of a Neil Simon play. This fey sitcom follows the early years of marriage between attorney Paul Bratter (Scoey Mitchell) and wife Corie (Tracy Reed), living together in a tiny New York City apartment. Despite the odd guest appearance (Jackie Coogan) and a far less competitive TV marketplace, the show wasn’t ever a success, nor did it ever look like being one and it died in 1971 after a season and a bit. The following years weren’t overly kind to Tracy Reed, though she did get plenty of work, just not in things she’d be proud of, or in parts where she had much to do. Perhaps not coincidentally, her biggest box office appearance was in 1986’s Running Scared where she showed her first skin on screen. See what can happen? Show a boob and BOOM! Box office glory.
